We believe that it is important to have healthy relationships with our peers.
Peer pressure is a difficult aspect of adolescent development regardless of the setting. The emerging sense of adolescent self-identity, self-esteem, and self-reliance gets tried and tested by the relationships that unfold. Negative peer pressure can be a driving force behind a whole host of risky and destructive behaviors.
At the Family Foundation School, care-giving roles like “buddy” and “jr. sponsor” help our students relate to each other with a new set of parameters. Relationships develop which are rooted in concern and bound by responsibilities.
