Growing Along Spiritual Lines

We believe in growing along spiritual lines through the grace of a Higher Power.

The underlying understanding in this belief is that we all need to make progress growing spiritually in order to maintain the healthy mindedness we seek.  Often the prerequisite for this type of growth is some level of open mindedness, an ability to listen to different perspectives, and a willingness to make some experiments.

We require the participation in a variety of prayer services so that our students will get exposure to the wide variety of cultural expression regarding spirituality while simultaneously learning a level of tolerance.  We also stress that growing along spiritual lines does not imply the the perfect adherence to any of the principles one is growing toward.  As the 12 step programs make clear “we claim spiritual progress, not perfection.”

The second, third, and eleventh steps emphasize the importance of a connection to a Higher Power of ones understanding.   Beginning to investigate what we understand regarding a Higher Power starts us traveling on the path of progress we are seeking.
